Dr. Mamta Aggarwal, who is at present working as Head of the institution w.e.f. 01-08-2006, has much experience to her credit in administration, supervision and cordial relation with over the teachers, students and supporting staff.
Prior to her appointment in this institution she held the post of Principal in a Senior Secondary School. In total she is having more than 13 years experience as Teacher Educator and Principal in a recognized institution/school.
Her Ph.D contains an extensive research work on the subject “Determinants of Institutional Effectiveness of Senior Secondary Schools”.
She furnished a practical picture of education which has traversed a long, arduous journey from ancient Gurukul System to the modern day digital computer education. After the advent of educational technology & now the information technology, the role of Guru has to be shared by an effective contribution by the manager, principal, parents and the students themselves. Dr. Mamta Aggarwal undertook discussions with principals, teachers, students, and parents from 16 different schools in West and North-West districts of Delhi. The study was confined to 12 government schools – 2 schools each of girls and boys in urban, rural and slum areas and 4 public schools. She developed the required tools to measure the contribution of each determinant viz-management, principal, parents, teachers and students. She suggested many pragmatic approaches to the teachers to enhance their contribution and re-establish their ideal status, to realize their tremendous responsibility. She suggested different measures to other determinants also. She researched the different perspective thoroughly and gave a realistic picture incorporating practical suggestions and interesting illustrations.
Dr. Mamta Aggarwal possesses all the traits of an effective educational administrator and successful pedagogue. Being herself a researcher, she can make her staff empirical- minded. She can guide hem how to do research and this skill should be developed in the faculty of a teacher training institute. She can give guidance both in foundation and method papers. The future of students, teaches and teacher-educators is very bright under her supervision.
She has been instrumental in the creation of Resource Centre in the institute and got developed Nursery Rhymes – A Book of Rhymes and Writing Books in a very scientific way which has gone a long way to develop special interest amongst the tiny tots.
